I can not explain how much I love this book. I purchased the 2012 edition with my paper in mind and cannot put the book down. It is a testament of the scholarship of ST Joshi (who I hope I get to meet in August). If anyone is a fan of Lovecraft or horror in general needs to get this book. It is a master class in Gothic, Weird and Cosmic Horror. I have read it twice already.
The second time I approached it with more information about the cosmic indifference that Lovecraft wanted to express in his stories. With that in mind it made more sense to me the seconds read through. I understood hid ideas of cosmic horror being with humanity from the beginning. What our ancestors did not understand was placed in the supernatural pile.
I want to write more about it and I will as my paper is coming along.
