The following videos describe the coming SAFIRE project, an effort to build a model of the Sun. This is "electric sun" science, which may be new to many. Basically, the gravity-driven fusion model (the standard model) of the Sun has not predicted nor can explain a variety of phenomena observed in recent years. Meanwhile, plasma physicists recognize these phenomena from a century of laboratory experiments.
The thread title, "inexpensive science," was inspired by part 2, where speaker Monty Childs compares the amazing and inexpensive off-the-shelf technology available for projects like SAFIRE to the likes of the Large Hadron Collider.
