MIND MELD: SF/F Writing Dream Teams

We've had threads on actual SF/F collaborations such as Kuttner/Moore, Pohl/Kornbluth, and Niven/Pournelle. What hypothetical collaborative team would you like to see added to the list?

I probably most enjoyed Kari Sperring's funny response although I've seen the "William and Edgar Rice Burroughs" thing before - still, her riffs and additions were great. But I have to say I basically agree with James Bloomer's response, down to most of the specifics regarding Sterling/Gibson's The Difference Engine. But they did collaborate on the "Red Star, Winter Orbit" story which wasn't bad. Either way, I can't seem to think of a team but I found the idea interesting and liked reading the replies so thought I'd see what Chronners could add.

Banks/Reynolds would be interesting, but I don't see those two egos co-existing in a collaborative effort.

In reponse to the first post, I might point out that Philip Jose Farmer wrote a story that blends the style of William Burroughs with the subject matter of Edgar Rice Burroughs.

"The Jungle Rot Kid on the Nod"

This thread in general reminds me of Ellison's collection of collaborations Partners in Wonder. In his introduction, he regrets not having collaborated with a female writer, citing LeGuin and Russ among others. Although it is difficult for me to imagine what it would be like, I would love to see something that Joanna Russ and Harlan Ellison might have come up with, no doubt with a lot of argument.

Robert Sheckley working with John Sladek would have been fascinating, and might have produced the greatest work of satire in SF.
