Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd pass on the news of two summer events that I'm working on - very excited to be running FUTURA for the first time in Wolverhampton, as well as returning to Derby with EDGE-LIT 2. Tickets for either event are £25, which is great value for a full day of events and activities!

Futura is a one-day science-fiction convention taking place on the 15th June at Wolverhampton's Light House and features a fantastic Guest of Honour line-up with KEN MACLEOD, ADAM ROBERTS and IAN R MACLEOD. Activities run from 11am until late, and include readings, Q+As, kafeeklatsches and much more. For all the information, check out http://light-house.co.uk/featured/2013/02/futura-sci-fi-convention-2/

Edge-Lit 2 will be running on the 13th July at Derby QUAD and bringing a mix of workshops, readings, Q+As. panels and plenty more. We'll also have our Edge-Lit Quiz and the fabulous Edge-Lit raffle to close the evening! Our Guests of Honour for the day are MIKE CAREY, TRICIA SULLIVAN and STAN NICHOLLS. You can find all the information at http://www.derbyquad.co.uk/special-event/edge-lit-2

If you have any questions about either event, feel free to reach me at alexdavisevents@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks a lot, and hope to see you there!

Alt.fiction moved to Leicester last year. But there isn't one this year.

Going to the Derby one, but not sure about Wolverhampton. I have looked at the link, but could not see an online booking form. Is it pay on the day?

That's why I'm wondering if Edge Lit isn't effectively a replacement for Alt.Fiction. So far as I can recall, Alex was originally behind Alt.Fiction but he was no longer able to run it on a technicality?

I think they had problems booking the venue on a suitable weekend this year, but they've promised there'll be an alt.ficiton next year.

Sorry for the delay in coming back on this one - just to confirm there won't be an Alt.Fiction this year, but of course the future is being explored at the moment. Edge-Lit does pretty much the same sort of thing as Alt.Fiction, and is in the venue where Alt.Fiction was for many years, so ultimately if you enjoyed AF I expect you'd get a kick out of Edge-Lit... :)

Futura is booking via the Box Office for the time being, I'll ask the venue about online booking and see if this is something they can do - the new Box Office system is only just in place!
