Asimov, de Camp and Heinlein at the Naval Aviation Experimental Station (Kirkus)

As usual, quibbles: "Hawaii had been attacked by elements of the Japanese military" almost makes it sound like a rogue operation. "Japan, using elements of its military". And Heinlein didn't "find himself working alongside" Asimov and de Camp - he recruited them, as the article eventually explains. And Smith and Clarke (and even Kornbluth and, as an author, Pohl) weren't all that notable at the time although they certainly became so. But it is true that a significant section of Campbell's stable was taken from him mostly from 1942-45 and this is why some ultra-strict people count the "Golden Age" as only running from 1939-42!

Still, an interesting bit on an interesting episode in science fictional history set against a larger backdrop of one of the biggest parts of US history.

And it leads to this petition drive for an Isaac Asimov historical marker in Philadelphia (SFScope) with the Philadelphia cadre in attendance.
