I read a sci fi short story some years ago that has always stuck in my mind and I want to pass it on to my brother.
As far as I can remember "a space pilot had to go on a mission that several previous pilots had attempted and all had died. In his ship at high speed, time and space became distorted. At first, time slowed and then speeded up. The pilots instinctive reactions could take several minutes to take affect. So a feeling of fear, for example, occurred unexpectedly some time after the event causing it. The pilot conquered his instincts and did the opposite of what would have been normal and survived."
That is the gist of it. I read this story in a book of a collection of short stories though I do not recall the author or whether it was several authors in the same book. I would appreciate any help.
Thank you
