Read this one last summer. Presently driving me a bit batty. A book or possibly series of books set in a California resort town. Cannot remember the title or the author, but the main "theme" revolved around -- duh -- Zombies with said town having a giant wall as their main protection and also being split into three semi-hostile groups: One inside a hotel they'd converted into a fortress, one a group of religious fanatics led by a polygamous nutcase, and a third group (by far the smallest) I believe called the "Hill Gang" led by the anti-hero protagonist who as the story opens has just been bitten by a zombie's decapitated head, slipped into the footlocker he keeps in his bedroom. He has 24 hours to find out who did this to him before he himself gets "zombified". And either return the favor or kill them.

Any help at restoring my now thoroughly shattered equilibrium most welcome. Thematically: Very, umm, gritty, with some very strong sexual content.

Possibly a kindle-only e-book. I do know I read it on my kindle, as a loaner from someone who also does not remember either title or author.

That I can't remember either title or author of an e-book I read just about a year ago is proof positive that getting old truly does suck. :(

Maybe a bit obvious, but if you used Amazon to borrow the book and didn't manually load it, it should be listed on "Your Kindle Library" on Amazon. Have you tried going to the "Manage your Kindle" link on Amazon and looking through your Kindle library for the books you read last summer?
