to be precise, 4 pages too early :)

"Something moved.I saw the water rippling."
"A turtle," the prince announced cheerfully. "A big 'snapper, that's all it was." He thrust his pole out ahead of them and pushed them away from a towering green obelisk.

It was from ADWD Tyrion chapter where Tyrion exposed young Griff's true identity before they met grey men. This moment young Griff supposed to be young Griff, but we had given chance to see few pages earlier his true identity.

Didn't Tyrion already have suspicions at this point? I can't recall properly, but I seem to have a vague memory of Tyrion being increasingly suspicious of his identity.

you are right, Brian. On one previous Tyrion POV when they saw gigantic turtle swimming on river, Tyrinon mentioned something that miracles happens around king or something,,, but I believe in that case I mentioned early, GRRM did it accidently :)

Didn't Tyrion play cyvasse with Haldon in the previous chapter and acquired some secret? It probably was Young Griff's identity, so at this point Tyrion already knew, just didn't talk about it.

yes, certainly Tyrion knew that this time already, but we readers did not knew it,:) and I am sure it was not GRRM mention to expose young Griff true identity to us in this particular moment, which I citated on my first post, but four pages later, then when Tyrion waved torch before young Griff face. I can imagine so well GRRM sitting behind table and typing this chapter, then making little pause just before typing word "prince" and thinking :"ah, very good, few more pages and then I will give my dear readers nice punch by revealing young Griff true identity to them." then, taking sip of coffee, continues typing. But instead of typing "Young Griff" or "youth" or "lad" his mind has run little before and he types "prince". :)
BTW, I personally noticed that only after re-reading ADWD after 10-12 time :p

I am almost positive that GRRM was puposely hinting at Young Griff's identity. Even before this little slip, right after he wins Cyvasse against Haldon Tyrion comes up on deck and they see a giant turtle and say that he is one of the gods of the river and tyrion thinks...

"and why not? Gods and wonders always appear, to attend the birth of Kings"

So tyrion knew and GRRM uses his POV to let us in on it.
