Trigun. Just the name is so strange and intresting, that it makes me wonder, what it means. When I first saw this title, I thought to myself: "Hm, Trigun... Well, I'm sure guns will be in it... Maybe something about a trio... or a gun with three barrels?" Needless to say, it really has nothing to do with... Anything really. I mean in the series, nothing nor no one is called "Trigun" So, what does it mean? I will dive into that at the end... .
Right, so Trigun is a Space Western, that takes place on a distant planet that may be or not be in the future. The main character of this tale is Vash the Stampede, an outlaw who is hated by everyone.
Oh, so it’s one of those, bad guys story?
Nope, actually, Vash is not a villain.
Huh… Ah I see, he’s misunderstood?
Again, no. Although many characters think he’s evil, it’s mostly because no one knows him in person. Moreover, no one even knows what he looks like.
So… What kind of story is it?
It’s… Complicated. If I had to summarize the whole story in a sentence it would be: A fun adventure of colorful characters, with dark themes and terms. Oh and loads of cats.
Hey, that’s two sentences!
Shut it.
So right from the get go, it’s kind of weird. Like, more weird then that scene in Willie Wanka, the tunnel scene. Granted, Trigun won’t give you nightmares… Unless it’s not the last episodes you’re watching. Sorry, off track. Regardless, all characters that are presented are extremely colorful and fun in their own kind of way. For example, there’s this marksman smith guy… And he used to be this awesome dude, who helped a particular village out, by making super-duper amazing weapons, in the time when they needed protection. But when Vash stumbles up on him, he (SPOILER) has become a drunk, with deep scars. (NO MORE SPOILERS) Trigun loves to mix tones, adding a bit of fun to sad or serious moments. It’s very light hearted. As the story progresses characters truly grow on you. Their interactions with one another become so fluent, yet so distant to what you are used to, it makes the journey all the more fun.
So, because I no longer can hold this in my mind, here are some of the awesome moments: (SPOILERS, YOU CAN COMPLETELY SKIP THIS PART)
Wasn’t it cool, like it the first episode, no one knew how Vash looked, and as a audience we didn’t know too, and you had to like guess with the characters?
What on earth is that cat doing? Does it have a owner? Is it just stalking Vash? What does it want? Jeez, maybe all those “Cat will take over the world” theories are true? WHAT DO U WANT CAT?
emember Wolfwood? And his awesome Cross of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM? I wish my priest was as awesome as he was... Which brings me back to that sad… No… NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Of all the charecters, why, why did Wolfwood had to die? I swear to god, if I could change anything in this world, I’d be like: Yeh, world hunger is important and all that… But please bring HIM BAAACK. (Disclamer: It’s a joke, get over it)
(SPOILERS END)
Conclusion
You might be wondering: This guy is crazy; the way he reviews is so strange. It must be because he’s Russian. You might also be thinking, what do I think, the title of the series mean. And it’s a very personal view, but I think Trigun is about choice, that you might use guns or you might, and I know this sounds silly, Tri to deal with people. The thing is, is that Vash, and I don’t think it’s a huge spoiler, because it’s introduce in the first episode, but he is not a man who solves his problems with violence, quite the opposite, he tries to reason with others, be a better person. And I love much crap he has to go through because of it. It would be very easy to show a good guy who gets all the credit and is loved by the comunity, but Vash is a tragic hero who is not rewarded. And that’s why I love Trigun. Hoped you enjoyed the review.
