This is the title as I remember it. However, it could be wrong because I've been looking for years and can't even find a reference to it anywhere online. Does anyone here remember this book?
It was a collection of adult sci-fi short stories from around the late 70s I think, various authors, starkly written.
The cover might have show a man on horseback, his back to the camera, gazing out into the background. Although I could be confusing this with something else.
Here are some details of stories I remember:
- a scientist experimetns with injecting a drug into himself that transports him into a parallel existence temporarily
- a man is caring for and romantically involved with a young woman with a disfigured face, or so it seems
- a business man has recurrent nightmares of another life where he is kept locked in a cage in a cellar
These stories were kind of disturbing with a horror element in some of them but futuristic in feel and setting.
Any ideas?
