Dear sffchronicles community,

Some time ago I've read this what I remember to be a fantasy book about a young man and a woman from (I think) different factions or tribes that had to get married and were sent off or exiled with some number of people to follow them. They either settle somewhere or get stranded on an island and start a life leading those people. In the beginning they, as far as I can remember, hate each other but their attitude changes towards the end of the book.

This is very vague, I know but it's all I can remember unfortunately. Some facts might even be wrong. It's been driving me crazy lately for some reason and nobody seems to know this one. If you can point me in the right direction it would be really cool. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like Romeo and Juliet... or a theme of.

One does spring to mind, was it a recent book? There was a short part in the novel Genesis by Bernard Beckett. It's about a massive ark built to transport Humans to another world. The journey would take 10,000 years and the Human populations inside are split between the crew and a religious group of Mennonites. 300 years after the launch, the crew and the mennonites go to war and two young members of each group travel together to the far side of the ark a good few days away from the rest of the Humans to found a colony there.

In general it's like an opposite of Romeo and Juliet I think. They have to face life hardships together as a team and grow to like each other.

I think it's been at the very least 12 years since I've read it. What you're describing sounds interesting but it's not the book I'm looking for unfortunately.
