Coming soon from Avon is the second instalment in the Vampire Federation series, The Cross, by Scott Mariani.
“There are worse things than vampires…”
The ancient Cross of Ardaich was thought to have been destroyed in the bloody war between the Vampire Federation and the Trads, and is deeply feared by vampires.
Even worse, its accidental rediscovery in Eastern Europe could ultimately lead to the destruction of the world.
Detective Joel Solomon can’t forgive his ex-lover Alexandra Bishop, a Vampire Federation agent, since she made him a vampire.
But when Federation arch enemy Gabriel Stone forms an alliance with a deadly serial killer to claim the cross, the old lovers are forced back together, along with some rag-tag allies, in a race against time and pure evil.
Stone’s masters, the terrible Ubervampyr, must be stopped from possessing the cross at all costs. For it isn’t just ordinary vampires like Alex and Joel who will become an endangered species if it does, ultimately things could turn very nasty for the entire human race.
Praise for the author:
UPRISING: “It’s got action . . . it’s a thriller . . . more hardcore Underworld action than Twilight angst. This could be the one for you.” – Falcata Times
“Dark and dirty . . . returns vampires to their rightful place as the creatures of nightmares.” – Monsters and Critics
“Exhilarating . . . [the author] makes his undead realm seem genuine.” – Midwest Book Review
“Mariani certainly knows how to rack up the tension in this high-octane thriller” – Lancashire Evening Post
About the author:
Scott grew up in St Andrews, Scotland and studied modern languages and film at Oxford University.
He worked in various jobs, including as a language teacher and freelance journalist, before becoming a full time writer.
The idea for his first book came to him in 2007 while out walking his dogs in the Welsh countryside, where he continues to live and work now.
The book was an outstanding success, selling its first print run in less than two months. The Avon imprint of HarperCollins then bought the paperback rights and offered Scott a four book deal.
The Alchemist’s Secret was an immediate success, storming the UK charts while appearing in translated editions all across the world.
Since then, the Ben Hope series has expanded to include The Mozart Conspiracy, The Doomsday Prophecy, The Heretic’s Treasure, The Shadow Project and The Lost Relic – with more to come. Scott has appeared regularly in the UK Bestseller charts and been rated as HarperCollins’ second most widely translated international author.
He is also the author of the Vampire Federation series: the first novel Uprising was published in the UK in 2010 and its follow-up The Cross will be released in the UK in 2011.
The Cross will be out on the 13th October and is available for pre-order on Amazon now, or if you really can’t wait get it on Kindle now.
