Focus Home Interactive has announced a new role-playing game being overseen by Cyanide (of BloodBowl fame), and developed by Spiders.

Of Orcs and Men is considerably underway with development, and is expected to be released at some point next year.

The game revolves around a brutal conflict between the empire of man and the green-skinned orcs, two races who are never the best of friends. And the goblins are persecuted by men, too, as ever.

The player takes up the mantle of an elite orc warrior from the legion of Bloodjaws, who is tasked with a most important mission: to kill the ringleader of the humans, the Emperor, and help bring the long war to an end.

However, this orc warrior is not alone, and works in tandem with a goblin, the idea being that both are very different characters with strengths and weaknesses, each of which can be developed via skill trees.

Broadly, the orc is the powerful and strong warrior who can brute force past enemies, but other situations may call for the goblin assassin’s stealthy approach to combat.

Quests must be completed, loot must be looted, and all the usual stuff, with the promise of communing with great wizards and going up against the “Sisters of Laments” who sound like a right barrel of laughs.

But otherwise details are still pretty thin on the ground regarding this RPG. Of Orcs and Men is pencilled in for a 2012 release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC formats.
