The winners of the 2011 British Fantasy Awards were announced on 2 October 2011 at FantasyCon 2011, the British Fantasy Convention, held in Brighton, UK.
Among the awards given during the ceremony was the Karl Edward Wagner Special Award, which went to Terry Pratchett.
The winner of the August Derleth Fantasy Award for Best Novel was Demon Dance (The House of Murky Depths), by Sam Stone. Ms. Stone was a double winner as her “Fool’s Gold” (The Bitten Word) was named Best Short Story. Humpty’s Bones, (Telos), by Simon Clark, won in the Best Novella category.
Full Dark, No Stars (Hodder & Stoughton), by Stephen King, was named Best Collection, while the award for Best Anthology went to Back From the Dead: The Legacy of the Pan Book of Horror Stories (Noose & Gibbet), edited by Johnny Mains. At the Mountains of Madness (SelfMadeHero), by I. N. J. Culbard, was named Best Graphic Novel.
Artist Vincent Chong was also a double winner when he was not only named Best Artist, but also was the winner in the category for Best Non-Fiction for his Altered Visions: The Art of Vincent Chong (Telos). Telos Publishing, meanwhile, was named Best Small Press, with the award going to founders David J. Howe and Stephen James Walker. Black Static (TTA Press), edited by Andy Cox, won the Best Magazine award.
The Sydney J. Bounds Award for Best Newcomer went to Robert Jackson Bennett for Mr. Shivers (Orbit).
Awards were also given for Best Film and Best Television, going to Inception and Sherlock respectively.
Voting for the awards was open to all members of the British Fantasy Society, as well as to members of FantasyCon 2010 and FantasyCon 2011.
