The launch of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim creeps ever nearer, and a few more details have been revealed about the game which is due in the second week of November.
Bethesda has just officially announced the voice cast, which contains a generous scattering of “names” from the stage and screen.
These include Academy Award nominees such as Christopher Plummer (from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Max Von Sydow (Minority Report) and Joan Allen (The Bourne Ultimatum).
Plummer takes the role of a monk elder, Von Sydow is an agent of the Blades and Allen plays Delphine, one of the last remaining members of the Blades. Not the Sheffield United football team, but an ancient warrior guild.
None other than Lynda Carter, famous as Wonder Woman, will voice a Nord hero, and there’ll be several parts voiced by sci-fi show veterans.
Bablylon 5′s Claudia Christian – Commander Susan Ivanova – is cast as Legate Rikke, a loyal Imperial officer. And Battlestar Galactica’s Michael Hogan – the grizzled Saul Tigh – will voice the Imperial General Tullius.
Hogan has also lent his voice to Fallout and Mass Effect in the past, so is no stranger to game scripts.
Todd Howard, Game Director, enthused: “It’s been incredible to have all these actors together. When you start a project, you always make your wish-list of actors, and to actually hear them in the game, it’s amazing. We can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”
In total, there are 70 different voice actors and over 60,000 lines of dialogue in the game.
And another snippet of Skyrim news has also emerged – there may be a version of the game made for next year’s Wii U console. Although it isn’t likely to be available at the hardware’s launch, given that porting it across will be quite some task.
