The publisher of the forthcoming MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, EA Games, is still refusing to commit to an official release date.
EA has long stated that a 2011 release date is most likely, but although they have allowed pre-orders to go live, gamers are still in the dark as to when they should expect to receive their copies.
The company has said that the results they receive from beta testing will play a part in deciding the fate of the game’s release date.
EA has also said: “We have a date set internally [for calendar Q4], with a lot of assumptions around it.”
“We’re not done until we’re done. We’re not going to know with enough certainty to publicly announce a release date, until later this month or sometime in October.”
Speaking of beta testing, the developer of the MMOG Bioware has announced the delay of EU testing until an unconfirmed date.
European gamers will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on an early version of the game because a major new build is currently on its way.
Apparently the beta download version will be around a colossal 27GB in size. Ouch, that could put some people over their monthly bandwidth limits in one fell swoop.
