The first in a new sci-fi series by Peter Crowther, The Forever Twilight trilogy, is to be launched at the beginning of October by Angry Robot Books.

Darkness Falling is the story of a typical, all-American backwater, until the night the monsters arrive…

When four employees of KMRT Radio investigate an unearthly light that cuts off communication with the outside world, they discover that something has taken the place of their friends and fellow townfolk, and imbued them with malign intentions.

Little do they know, the phenomenon is not unique to the town of Jesman’s Bend…

First, the flash.

A glare of light, just before dawn, followed by utter darkness.

A vast blanketing nothingness that covered the whole Earth.

Then, the disappearances. Friends and strangers alike, swallowed by the darkness… and then returned, altered, changed. For the people of Jesman’s Bend, it feels like the end of the world. But this is only the very start.

About the author:

Before turning to full-time writing and editing in 1995, Englishman Peter Crowther worked in IT, music journalism, advertising and corporate communications.

He has made his literary mark through his prolific output of short stories — most of which, covering a variety of genres, are set and first published in the US — a string of original anthologies (plus a couple of reprint SF volumes), more than 200 columns and interviews on both sides of the Atlantic, two chapbooks, and the novel Escardy Gap, written in collaboration with James Lovegrove.

Praise for the author:

“Crowther’s twisted rapture is a fast-paced, character driven, funny, gruesome apocalypse. Forever Twilight will cast a shadow on your soul.” –Stephen Baxter.

“Reading Darkness Falling gave me the same thrills I’ve got from recent Stephen King novels and Justin Cronin’s The Passage, and that was it – I decided we just had to have this dystopian masterpiece for Angry Robot,” publishing Director Marc Gascoigne for Angry Robot.

Darkness Falling is available for pre-order on Amazon now.
