Ben Affleck is currently busy with directing Argo, a political thriller, but that hasn’t stopped him from lining up his next project now he’s in increasing demand (following the Oscar-nominated The Town).

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Affleck is in talks with Warner Bros to direct and star in Line of Sight.

It’s an intriguing project, as it’s an action film which tells the tale from the point of view of an FPS or first-person shooter video game. Presumably without the HUD ammo count or red curved lines which tell you from which direction you’re bring shot.

The story, which has been penned by Peter O’Brien, the writer of Halo: Reach no less, revolves around an elite squad of commandos with a vital cargo to protect.

Yes, it’s not exactly an immediately grabbing yarn, the central attraction – stroke gimmick – being the first-person shooter perspective.

Quite how that’ll work is debatable, though. There’s presumably going to be lots of camera bobbing, shake and suchlike to keep it looking real as opposed to the more smooth motion of a game.

And whether over the course of nearly two hours, that’ll make for an off-putting effect, we’re not sure. Unless the film studio isn’t planning on using the first-person perspective for the entire movie, of course…

We shall have to see. Warner Bros has Joel Silver and Andrew Rona producing on the project.
