It seems that Laurence Fishburne has been signed up for Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Fishburne will play Perry White, the boss at the Daily Planet where Clark Kent writes his stuff when not zooming around melting things with his laser eyes and trying to avoid green rocks.

Fishburne is, of course, most famous for his role in Matrix, where he played Morpheus, the ultra-cool leader of the rebels against the system. Although recently he’s done a stint at CSI, before coming back to the silver screen once more – in June he announced he wasn’t renewing his CSI contract.

He joins a number of stars lined up in the movie’s cast, including Henry Cavill (of Stardust fame, brave enough to play Superman himself), Amy Adams (Enchanted), Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road), Diane Lane and Kevin Costner.

The film was thought to be due out at the end of 2012, but the latest buzz indicates that the release has been pushed back to mid 2013, so we’ve got two years to wait yet.

Even so, we’re looking forward to seeing what this will turn out like, even if some Superman fans aren’t very keen on the choice of Snyder as director.

Some even doubt he’ll stay on with the film, and speculate that it would be for the better if he did move on, and Christopher Nolan (currently producing) was brought to the fore.
