Those of you keen on picking up bargains should keep an eye on Steam’s offers, there are often some pretty choice deals to be had.
Perhaps none more so than this weekend, with the Activision classic, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines on special.
Yes, it’s old, in fact nearly as ancient as the vampires themselves. Well, not quite, seven years old to be precise, but still, this RPG remains one of our most fond PC gaming experiences.
And you can grab it on Steam this weekend for not much more than the price of a pint: £3.74.
The game was heaped with much critical acclaim due to its brilliant script, story and atmosphere – expect considerable depth to the quests and a fully living, breathing, biting world.
However, at the time of release it was pretty buggy, which rather tainted the experience for some. The good news is that since then things have been patched up considerably, not just by the developer, but by the substantial fan community the game gathered.
It’s well worth checking out the unofficial patches and FAQs at the Patches-scrolls.de site if you take the plunge and download the game.
The sound track is also noteworthy, containing gems from the likes of Lacuna Coil and Ministry pumping away at the nightclubs you visit in the bleak and dark corners of the city.
This weekend Dino D-Day is also on offer, and you can bag it for half price (£3.49) on Steam. The game imagines that Hitler managed to resurrect dinosaurs in 1942, and is using an army of them instead of Panzers, stomping across Europe.
Yes… as Jeremy Paxman might observe.
