Atlus has unveiled a new trailer for its adventure-puzzle and psychological horror game which has stirred up quite a bit of interest.
An Anime style adventure which explores adult relationship themes, after being unfaithful Catherine’s protagonist Vincent finds himself haunted by terrible nightmares.
Worse still, other men around the city have been dying in their sleep, with awful expressions fixed on their faces… presumably the other victims of the haunting woman Vincent was tempted by…
Catherine explores themes of the love triangle and interpersonal relationships by day, with Vincent trying to survive twisted and terrifying nightmares by night (seemingly involving block pushing puzzles, and lots of sheep for some bizarre reason).
Have a gander at the latest trailer yourself, which sets the scene and gives you an idea of the style to expect (lots of big eyes and big… well, other bodily parts).
Catherine is out on the PS3 and Xbox come July 26th, although you can get a taster before then, as a demo is due next Tuesday. Unlike the previous Japanese demo, this will use English voice actors.
Catherine will come in two variants, the standard edition (for $60, UK pricing is still unconfirmed) and the deluxe edition which will run to $80 but comes with extra bits and pieces (such as a Cathy T-shirt, boxer shorts and a pillow case, yes you read that correctly).
