If you watch a lot of sci-fi shows – and coming to this website, you most likely do – you’ve probably been getting pretty cheesed off with the American networks shutting down sci-fi TV series before any sort of conclusion is reached.
Shows start off like Lost, hoping to build a massive story arc over ‘x’ number of seasons, and then get cancelled after two. We’ve got sick of it, quite frankly, with V, Stargate Universe and The Event being the three most recent cancellations.
Well, it seems that The Event might come back yet, or there’s at least a possibility of that happening.
It would be a crying shame if it didn’t, that’s for sure, as the huge cliffhanger the show was left on really needs to be resolved (at least for us, anyway).
According to Deadline (via ScienceFiction.com), SyFy might pick up The Event as a mini-series.
Discussions are still ongoing about whether this is a fiscally viable possibility – and yes, there had previously been word from a source at SyFy (earlier this month) that they wouldn’t be taking on The Event.
Rumour has it that something is still in the works, though. So watch this space and keep everything crossed that we might get some sort of a conclusion to the series. Like perhaps explaining exactly what the “event” is that’ll happen to the aliens, for starters.
