A website for a new Potter-related project by JK Rowling has popped up.
Pottermore.com is a simple holding page with a picture of two owls on it, and “Coming soon” written underneath.
Exactly what is coming soon isn’t revealed, but if you click through you get taken to a YouTube page entitled “JK Rowling’s Announcement”.
This mentions that the “owls are gathering soon” – and whether or not you give two hoots about that, the announcement as to why will take place at lunchtime tomorrow.
Various bits of speculation are floating about the net regarding exactly what’s being announced here, with the most convincing story being that Pottermore will be an online game of some description (this was apparently leaked by a PR company).
And it’ll feature a real-world search for wands hidden across the UK, US and elsewhere – although whether that’s a marketing stunt for a separate online game, or the actual game in itself, isn’t clear.
The only thing Rowling’s people have made clear about Pottermore is that it definitely isn’t more in the way of Harry Potter books, which many fans were hoping.
Anyhow, it seems that tomorrow, the game will be afoot, and wand searchers everywhere will be out scouring train station platforms and under-stair cupboards, doubtless…
