The Doctor’s companions are continually changing, and it seems that the Doctor Who grapevine is saying that this series might be Amy Pond’s last.
It certainly will be Rory’s, by all accounts. Actor Arthur Darvill has signed up to play Mephistopheles in Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus from next month through to October.
Given that the next series (number seven) of Doc Who would normally start filming in the summer, Doctor Who TV reports, he wouldn’t have time to fit shooting into his schedule.
When it comes to Amy Pond (Karen Gillan), she is set to star in BBC Four’s new drama We’ll Take Manhattan. She said of the role: “When that script came along I was like, ‘This is perfect for the first thing that I do after I finish Doctor Who.’”
So it would seem Doctor Who will need a new companion for his next outing. River Song (Alex Kingston) could be a potential buddy, certainly…
