The winners of the World Fantasy Life Achievement Awards have been announced ahead of the awards’ presentation at the awards banquet at World Fantasy Convention 36, to be held 28 through 31 October in Columbus, Ohio.

There are three honorees this year, including Brian Lumley, Terry Pratchett and Peter Straub. The three writers are being honored for their outstanding service to the fantasy field.

Brian Lumley writes primarily in the horror genre and began publishing in 1971, while Terry Pratchett works in the fantasy genre and is best known for his Discworld series, which comprises 38 novels. Peter Straub, like Lumley, is best known for his work in the horror genre.

The winners of the Life Achievement Awards, like those of the World Fantasy Awards, which will also be presented at the awards banquet on 31 October, are selected by a panel of judges.

The World Fantasy Life Achievement Awards have been presented since 1975. Previous winners of the Award include Ray Bradbury, Jorge Luis Borges, Roald Dahl, Richard Matheson, Harlan Ellison, Ursula K. LeGuin, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Forrest J. Ackerman and Stephen King.
