Arkane Studios was started up in 1999, and produced the cult classic Arx Fatalis in 2002 (which was actually intended to be Ultima Underworld III, but they couldn’t get the license for the name).
The developer, who also produced the PC version of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, has just been acquired by Bethesda Softworks.
Arkane is now working on an unannounced project with Bethesda, which will hopefully be unveiled soon. We certainly can’t wait to hear about that.
“This is an exciting moment for Arkane. After 11 years of independent development, we couldn’t think of a better publishing partner,” commented Raphael Colantonio, Arkane’s Founder and CEO.
