In an interview with MTV, Guillermo del Toro has revealed that he will be entering the arena of video games.
The Director of Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy had previously expressed a desire to work in the medium of games, and apparently that is now a reality.
He told MTV News that in the next few weeks, a big deal with a big company would be announced (that news big enough for you?).
Del Toro said: “We’re going to do games that are going to be technically and narratively very interesting. It’s not a development deal. We’re going to do it. We’re doing them.”
Apparently, the exact details will be announced in the near future, but until then, all we can do is speculate, and get excited about this.
MTV points out that Del Toro has talked in the past about the potential for a Hobbit game, and given that the film is coming out (even though he isn’t directing), that could be a possibility.
It’d be a third-person action-adventure (we’d imagine) which would definitely sell by the bucket-load.
