Sources across the net are reporting that work has already begun on the sequel to the DC Comics superhero film Green Lantern.

Even though the Green Lantern won’t be out in cinemas for a year yet, so confident are Warner Bros of its impending success.

If you’re not familiar with the plot, the Green Lantern Corps is a small group of super-powered keepers of justice who patrol the universe and generally lay the smack down on any bad guys encountered.

The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, a full-of-himself test pilot who becomes the first human to join the intergalactic police force.

Nobody else likes him, of course, until they find out he has ham, cheese and tomato toasties in his lunch-box and then suddenly everyone’s his friend.

Heat Vision Blog claims that the writing team who penned Green Lantern has been locked in a dark windowless room in order to begin work on drafting a treatment for the sequel.

Although they’ll also be knocking out a draft for The Flash film as well, and depending on how the two turn out, the big-wigs will decide which of these two projects the team gets to write the full screenplay for.

Interesting. We’d imagine the Green Lantern Part 2 would have to be the favourite.
