Robocalypse: Beaver Defense (the US spelling, as it’s a US game) is out in Europe on WiiWare.
You can download the game, which features a story written by Jay Lender of Spongebob Squarepants fame, from today.
Robocalypse is a tower defence style game, meaning that it challenges the player to strategically place gun towers in order to take out incoming streams of robot enemies, sent by a giant mutated beaver.
Yeah, it’s a little weird, but the humour is all part of the game’s style, as you’d expect from a Spongebob writer.
It’s not just about static defence placement though, as the player can take control of hero robots on the battlefield, wading into the action for a spot of more traditional RTS bottom-kicking.
A bunch of humorous weapon are promised, including lasers, chainsaws, flame-throwers and falling anvils.
“Robocalypse: Beaver Defense brings a new level of strategy and humor to the Wii,” said Daniel Prousline, Vice President of Development at Vogster Entertainment.
“Lender and Wright have created an engaging story that will draw players in, but the deep game play and unique heroes and weapons will keep them coming back for more.”
