It looks as if Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar’s latest creation, could become the best-selling game of the year so far, according to Amazon.
It wouldn’t be surprising, as many people hang on Rockstar’s every pixel. The company is the developer responsible for the juggernaut that is Grand Theft Auto, and other acclaimed titles such as Midnight Club: LA, and Bully.
Red Dead Redemption is an open-ended action adventure with a wild west theme. Or as some people have dubbed it, Grand Theft Horsey.
It features frontier towns, wild prairies, mountain passes, and of course gun-slingers aplenty. No doubt a drunken down-trodden sheriff and several prostitutes with hearts of gold will turn up at some point.
Amazon UK says that its figures for Red Dead Redemption, which is out tomorrow, make it the biggest selling pre-order game so far this year.
It currently holds three of the top five spots in the video games best-sellers chart, with the Xbox 360, PS3 and PS3 limited edition versions, on pre-orders alone.
“This is undoubtedly the most hotly anticipated video game of the year so far,” said Chris Poad, Director of Video Games at Amazon UK.
“Demand has risen significantly over the last week as excitement and buzz around the game has built, making it one of the most successful titles we have seen on Amazon.co.uk this year before it has even been released.”
Red Dead Redemption is actually the follow up to Red Dead Revolver, which Rockstar released way back in 2004.
