Angry Robot Books, a science fiction, fantasy and horror imprint of HarperCollins UK since July 2009, has announced that it has become an independent publisher. Angry Robot will publish under the umbrella of Osprey Publications, but will maintain its current offices and continue to be led by founder Marc Gascoigne.
According to an 11 May press release announcing the change, Angry Robot will take a short break before relaunching in September, but its operations will be unaffected by the change. The publisher still plans to release six titles in the US on 31 August.
Osprey Publishing, in business since 1968, originally as an imprint of Berkshire Printing and has been an independent publisher since 1998. It has previously specialized in niche non-fiction titles, focusing especially on military history.
