EA and BioWare’s deep and visually impressive RPG is all set for a new downloadable content pack: Darkspawn Chronicles.
As the name suggests, it gives you the chance to become the darkspawn, and fight for the side of evil against the Grey Wardens.
Cue nefarious laugh, rubbing of hands, and stroking of white cats if there are any to hand.
The new module imagines an alternate universe where you die during the Wardens’ joining ceremony, and become a hurlock vanguard, playing through the fall of Denerim from the other side of the fence.
Players will be able to use an “enthrall” ability to recruit any darkspawn encountered into the party, giving them command of genlocks, hurlocks, shrieks and even big fat ogres (don’t call them that to their face, though).
Sounds like a refreshing slant for the adventure to take, and if you make it to the end, an epic darkspawn item, usable in the normal game, is the reward.
Xbox and PC players can pencil in the date of May 18th for when they become mad, bad and dangerous to know at Denerim. The expansion will cost 400MS points on the Xbox, and 400 BioWare points on the PC.
The bad news for PlayStation owners is that the Darkspawn Chronicles won’t be out until a later, as yet unconfirmed, date. It will cost £3.99 when it does finally arrive.
