RuneScape players will no doubt be interested to learn that RuneFest 2010 will be happening on Saturday August 28th.
Players from the RuneScape community will gather at an as yet unannounced central London venue.
A celebration of the online role-playing game, RuneFest will feature an “exclusive gameplay experience” that will be nothing like you’ve ever seen before (or will ever see again, apparently).
And there’ll be themed areas across the venue to allow players to experience RuneScape activities in the real world, with various aspects of the game’s universe brought to life.
Although presumably you won’t be able to hack someone to bits with a ruddy great two-handed sword.
As well as live events, there will be insider sessions on the development of the game, and displays of winning players’ artwork and videos. Indeed, the “Golden Gnome” awards will be a celebration of the best video making talent in RuneScape.
Mark Gerhard, CEO of developer Jagex, promises “an intimate, memorable and naturally incredibly fun, festive fan celebration. This is certainly going to be a landmark event and one of the best parties we’ve ever had.”
“The team and I are really excited about meeting and celebrating our biggest fans namely our epic community, we have also got a few surprises up our sleeve that I’m certain our players will love.”
Yes, he said “party” – beer, or ale we should probably say, will be available (hence it’s adult fans only).
Tickets will go on sale shortly, although you can register for pre-sale tickets to avoid possible disappointment, over at: www.runefest.com.
