Not only is the eleventh Doctor back on our TV screens, but he’ll also be on our computer monitors come June 5th.
That’s the date the BBC has set for the release of the first in its series of four Doctor Who adventure games, which are planned to run alongside the TV show.
And the best thing about these adventures? They’ll be free to download on either the PC or Mac.
The first outing is entitled City of the Daleks, and it involves the gravel-throated, sink plunger waving, mobile dustbin aliens who have been terrifying kids ever since they first appeared in 1963.
Even more terrifyingly now, they can climb stairs (well, levitate up them). Although the latest bunch in the current series appear to have put a bit of weight on, and could use some time down the gym.
Funnily enough, the City of the Daleks game begins in the devastated city of London in 1963, before quickly moving to the Daleks’ home world, Skaro.
It’s up to you to guide the Doctor, and his short skirt wearing assistant Amy Pond, through a mix of “action, peril and humour” in an interactive and original story which is “as heart-pulsing as anything you’ve seen before.” (Unless you work in a slaughterhouse).
Specific details, such as exactly how interactive the adventure will be, and how much on-rails, are yet to be revealed.
But hey, it’s got the Daleks in it, even if they’ve been eating a few pies and appear to have painted themselves bright colours like the Teletubbies.
The Doctor Who: The Adventure Games episodes are being executive produced by Steven Moffat, Piers Wenger, Beth Willis and Anwen Aspden, and developed by Sumo Digital.
