David Allen
One of the films that is more recognisable as sci-fi than almost any film around today, the most surprising thing about this film is that it was made way back in 1927 and it went under the name of Metropolis.
When the film was made, it was time between two world wars, there was hope and prosperity the film spoke of a utopia where everything was fine, the inhabitants are separated by class with the workers living in the basements of huge skyscrapers while the ruling classes live at the top.
In 2002, the film was released on DVD, but it was incomplete because in 2008 some lost footage was found in Argentina, if fact this was the final thirty minutes of the original film.
Now complete with a new sound track, Metropolis is making its return to the big screen.
