David Allen
A new science fiction story has been picked up by Sony Pictures, the film rights give the studio the chance to develop the series of books written by Jeff Somers.
The first to get the Sony treatment will be The Electric Church; it is believed that the title of the film will be the Avery Cates Project, named after the main character in the book.
The story is set in the future where the world has been reorganised into nations controlled by a sort of council, Cates is an assassin whose assignment is to take out the leader of a church who is responsible for transplanting brains into robots.
This adaption has the potential to offer a different kind of story, something dark and fulfilling exactly how science fiction should be.
