Science fiction films have been around since filmmaking began, but at those glittering award ceremonies science fiction actors, writers and production staff have hardly been given a look in, but it seems that is all going to change.
The change started when the most famous award The Oscars expanded the nomination process and this trend has been quickly adapted by most other organisations too.
And so we find that science fiction has been acknowledged at the PGA awards.
Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures:
“AVATAR”
Producers: James Cameron, Jon Landau
“DISTRICT 9″
Producers: Carolynne Cunningham, Peter Jackson
“STAR TREK”
Producers: J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof
The PGA’s are an essential guide to how voting will go in some of the other awards and therefore if these nominations are anything to go on, then we can look forward to more of the same.
