The entertainment giant Disney not content with acquiring the Marvel Entertainment business it has taken a ten per cent stake in Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment company too, paying around $2.5 million for the privilege.
This deal will give Disney more rights to influence the sort of material coming out of the studio and enable Disney to attack a market that has for some time been neglected, this market is boys, for so long Disney has gone after the girl market with princesses etc, but now science fiction will also feature heavily.
Being a new deal, this should not affect any of the characters or material that are currently in circulation either in film, print of even as characters at theme parks. What we can expect is a wave of new and exciting material in pipeline.
