Winning general media and film awards is not normally the domain of science fiction, but recently there has been a change in this view, the award organisers appear to have finally realised that science fiction is not just a genre, it is big business too.
The popularity of science fiction has reached levels where the award organisers can no longer ignore the fact science fiction is not just fantasy it has spread across the media.
One such beneficiary is the film “Moon” it has just walked away with the top prize at the British Independent Film Awards, this film was directed by Duncan Jones, who happens to be the son of the musician and science fiction actor, David Bowie.
Moon is an account of a man living on the moonbase and how the solitude affects him.
