J Michael Straczynski is probably more known for being behind the hit science fiction series Babylon 5 and other related spin offs.
However, in these days of reworking and prequels, J Michael Straczynski has been putting his slant on a classic sci-fi film from the fifties, Forbidden Planet.
The original Forbidden Planet was actually based on the Tempest by William Shakespeare, all be it loosely but the basic storyline was in there.
The only difference between this new version and the old one is that it will focus more on the original ship that landed on the planet twenty years before Forbidden Planet started, this will give the viewer a better understanding of the complete story.
Warner are apparently very excited with this project and the budget will reflect that, although no timeline has been established yet.
