Octavia E Butler is already a Hugo and Nebula award winner on several occasions and yet with Lilith’s Brood its seems that not only the future of the human race is at stake but in fact the entire world, however not all goes according to plan.
The basics are the world is destroyed by war, but for Lilith Lyapo this is not the end but rather the beginning, for she is resurrected by a mysterious alien race known as the Oankali, that now inhabit the world.
However, in order to survive on the harsh planet Earth, the Oankali have to become part human, the story follows the offspring of this strange alliance, they are the new people of Earth and this is where Lilith’s Brood starts.
There are plenty of parallels to be drawn here with current society; the reader will make their own conclusions to that.
