The latest ABC science fiction offering for the small is Defying Gravity, its set in the year 2052 and by all accounts, nothing much has changed in everyday life. Technology has relentlessly moved, space exploration is in its early stages and abortion has been made illegal.
Yet this is story of relationships, sure it follows a four men and four women crew as they set off on a mission six year space mission, however one of the women on board is pregnant following one night stand.
The show could be described as a sort of Sex in the City crossed with Desperate Housewives and Grey Anatomy, especially as the team behind the production have also been involved in the production of those shows too.
This is definitely going to be a sci-fi soap opera, but how long the mission lasts, with be determined by the viewer’s interest in the show.
