In 1938, Americans were captivated by the sixty minute broadcast put together by Orson Welles that described an alien invasion.
It seems that the HG Wells story still has what it takes to strike fear into the hearts of anyone. So it seems weird that a junior school in West Sussex should choose to inflict this story on the schools 370 pupils.
The children were informed that a spacecraft had crashed near the school and that they had to help search the debris, one of the teachers was grabbed an alien and things went downhill from that point.
Some of the children were traumatised and parents have been left angry at the “Alien Invasion Show” that had been put on with the help of the police, but without the knowledge of the parents.
The event was created to develop the children’s writing skills.
