It seems that there are two ways to a science fiction film into production these days, the first is to remake a classic film or TV show and the second is to make a prequel to a successful film.
This is true when it comes to the Alien film series of four films and two Alien Vs Predator spin off films.
As the original film celebrates its 30th anniversary it is only apt that the original director Sir Ridley Scott make a return to series to make the prequel to Alien, although some would say that both the Alien Vs Predator films were in prequels.
The new film will fill in the gaps in the story as it leads up to the original film, we already have some clues from the prequels, and this new film will tie everything up hopefully.
