The death of a well liked character is always going to have an effect on the fans, but when Ianto Jones died in the last series of “Torchwood” it was something that the fans simply were not able to accept.
As result of this sorrow, a website was set up saveiantojones.com, the aim of which is to encourage fans to write or send postcards to the shows producer, Russell TV Davies urging him to reconsider.
However, according to justgiving.com/iantojones the character’s death has affected so many people that they are donating money in memory of Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd) so far it is estimated that the fund is worth over £3,000.
However, there could be a silver lining to all of this, firstly the charity Save the Children will be getting some valuable cash and secondly this is science fiction, we all know that death can be just the beginning of something wonderful.
