The Shirley Jackson Awards for 2009 were announced at Readercon 20 on 12 July 2009 in Burlington, Massachusetts, in the US.
The winners of the jury-voted awards included The Shadow Year (William Morrow), by Jeffrey Ford as Best Novel, The Diving Pool (Picador), by Yoko Ogawa as Best Collection and The New Uncanny (Comma), edited by Sarah Eyre and Ra Page, as Best Anthology.
Among shorter fiction, Julia Leigh’s Disquiet (Penguin, Hamish Hamilton) was judged Best Novella while John Kessel’s “Pride and Prometheus” (F&SF) was named Best Novelette and Best Short Story was “The Pill” (Subterranean Online, Winter 2008), by Michael Bishop.
Readercon is an annual convention that focuses on written science fiction.
