The Stand: Captain Trips, a hardcover graphic novel adaptation of The Stand (1978, 1990), a novel by Stephen King, will be available in general bookstores in January 2010, Publishers Weekly has reported.
The graphic novel was first available only in comics shops in March after Marvel Comics said it did not have permission from Doubleday (now part of Random House), The Stand’s original publisher, to offer it in bookstores.
In an interview which appeared in Publishers Weekly in February, officials of Marvel Comics said they could not discuss the details of the original agreement but said it was not their decision to only offer the book in comics shops.
