Hi,
I'm looking for a book I read as a child. In it, I think a kid becomes king, emperor, or some other kind of ruler. In school, everybody just takes government-prescribed happiness drugs and does nothing, but the protagonist steals the few books the school owns and reads them in the woods, where monkeys **** in them.
Later there are guys called paladins, automated cars (called white flash or something?) that run over people and lion guards with sun glasses that get eaten.
I don't remember much about the plot, only that it was a weird and wonderful book that I'd like to reread. Can anyone help me with that?
Cheers,
Simski
