Isaac Asimov's birthday was January 2. In one of his non-fiction articles, he explained that the Earth's perihelion also took place on January 2, and he went on to say that the reason it did so was *because* it was Asimov's birthday.
My father wrote Mr. Asimov a letter explaining that Mr. Asimov was wrong: January 2 was the date of perihelion because it was my *father's* birthday and also that of *his* mother.
Mr. Asimov kindly sent back a postcard, which said, "By God, you're right!"
I wish I still had it...
