Sorry if this thread has already been done but I thought it would be good to have a thread devoted to up and coming talent in SFF in 2014.

Are they promising?
Will you continue buying their books?

Den Patrick
John Horner Jacobs

If anyone can add more please do!
Which ones look the most promising?

I'm confused - aren't both of the names you mentioned already published? Den Patrick has the fantasy war manuals under his belt, and John Horner Jacobs is listed as published at least in 2010.

I don't really count Den Patricks manuals as fiction as it is more like fictional non fiction if that makes any sense and Horner Jacobs previous work has either been YA or other genres besides SFF so in that sense he is a debut SFaf author!

I know I am clutching at strings but I can't seem to find many debut SFF authors and I was hoping other people could come up with some?

I haven't read Den's yet, but am looking forward to it!

I'm looking forward to Kat Ellis' BLACKFIN SKY. It sounds very eerie.

Also, whilst it doesn't entirely sound my cuppa THE MINATURIST by Jessie Burton is getting a lot of plaudits and sounds interesting.

Springs, The Miniaturist looks pretty interesting. I think I will pick it up when it comes out. If not for me for my wife.

I wish I was hip enough to know which debut authors I would be excited about. Being completely unhip though, I don't know about debut authors until they are published and the buzz finally reaches me. I got to read a few debut authors last year and was thrilled by all of them, so looking forward to this year's batch.
